Influence of Roughness Trips on Near- and Far-Field Trailing-Edge Noise

چکیده
Roughness trips are widely applied in wind-tunnel testing to hasten the laminar–turbulent boundary-layer transition. It is well known that they influence transition and its development. However, their on aeroacoustic quantities (in particular, airfoil trailing-edge noise) not yet fully understood. This paper discusses relationship between trip height development radiated noise. Wind-tunnel experiments were performed with zigzag strips grit elements placed surface of a NACA 0012 airfoil. The roughness heights ranged from 17 214% undisturbed thickness at location. chord-based Reynolds number varied . shows within 50 105% have little near field increase spectra velocity pressure fluctuations low-frequency range up 2.5 3 dB, respectively, resulting an noise 4 dB similar frequency range. In summary, this importance carefully defining used trigger aerodynamic measurements.

Statistical Estimation of Turbulent Trailing Edge Noise
A new computational aeroacoustic model suitable for the prediction of turbulent airfoil trailing edge noise is presented. The method (known as the RANS based Statistical Noise Model or RSNM) combines numerically generated, mean turbulence information with a Green’s function for a semi-infinite half-plane to generate a far-field acoustic auto-spectrum. As a preliminary application of the method,...

The main goal of preset research is investigate the effects of vertical component of Near-Fault and Far-Field earthquake records on the probability of overtopping induced damage of earth dam due to the reduction of freeboard due to the settlement of dam crest. In this respect 12 different earthquake record are selected. Nonlinear dynamic analysis of earth dam is implemented with FLAC 3D using F...
متن کاملEmpirical study of flat plate trailing edge flow and noise
This paper presents results of an empirical study on the flow and noise generated by the trailing edge of a flat plate encountering low turbulence fluid flow. Simultaneous measurements of flow and far-field noise data have been taken in an anechoic wind tunnel at the University of Adelaide. Velocity data about the trailing edge and in the wake have been measured using hot-wire anemometry. These...
متن کاملSeismic Behavior of Jacket Offshore Platform Subjected to Near and Far Field Ground Motions
Offshore structures such as jacket platforms have to inevitably be designed against sever environmental actions. In seismically active areas these structures also become susceptible to earthquake excitations. Strong ground motions recorded in recent earthquakes, including the 1995 Kobe, Japan, 1999 Chi-chi, Taiwan and 1999 Kocaeli, Turkey earthquakes, revealed that the dynamic motions in nea...
